'Fertility Choices' are based in Australia and was an idea first created by
'The Child Listener' Emma Hartnell-Baker in the UK in 2004.

'Creating choices for women & infertile couples'
There are now over 1375 sperm donors registered in the Free Sperm Donations Database
and her web site DIY-Baby.com offers online self-insemination kits and free information relating
to becoming pregnant using a private sperm donor. Most report a positive experience, and
there
have been hundreds,
if not thousands of pregnancies as a result.
However Emma has become increasingly concerned that the laws do not currently recognise
private sperm donations, despite the current trends, which raises problems if either the recipient
or donor decide to go against their agreement. Also,
and that a small number of private donors
appear to
be trying to gain money or sex from vulnerable
'would be moms'.
At present there is no professional organisation
offering
any type of Code of Ethics, or a 'safe' place where women can seek impartical advice and help,
when considering this option. As 'The Child Listener' she
is also concerned for the rights of children born
from private sperm donation.

She is therefore in the process of creating a 'Not for Profit' chartiable organisation and will
appoint individuals to represent their country, on the Commitee, as a
PSD
(Private Sperm Donations) Advisor.
These individuals will have knowledge and understanding of the legalities of
private sperm donation
in their own country, and be bound themselves, by a Code of Conduct.
Private sperm donors who are committed to acting honourably, and agree to abide by
the
Code of Ethics, will be able to join as PSD members.
